How to Find Your Signature Style: My Front Bun

Hey Dolls! Happy Monday! I know I know, you're probably thinking Kelley it's Monday, but if you can make it through a Monday you can make it through anything! Today I wanted to talk with you briefly about signature style. Your signature style is usually composed of many elements that stand out as something that others know or recognize you for. Anything from your perfume, jewelry, clothing, make up, and so much more!

I had a great weekend and had originally planned to do so much for my blog, but I was out of town and none of what I planned went down! What did happen however, is everywhere I went, and I do mean everywhere, I got endless compliments on my hair! For the past several days I've been rocking a massive front bun. Oh and besides the fact that it's massive, It's inverted:-)  I am in the process of transitioning from relaxed to natural hair and because transitioning can be hard and A LOT of work, I usually keep my hair in braids like so.

My mom braids my hair but now that I have a new job she's an hour away and sometimes I am left with a head full of hair that I don't know what to do with. A few weekends ago I wanted to try a front puff, but it didn't turn out like I thought it would so I pinned all the hair in the middle forming a bun because it was all I could think to do in the time I had. Turns out everyone LOVED it.

Although its nice when people compliment your hair, it isn't the reason this has become my signature style.  It's become my signature style because

1. I feel beautiful when I wear it.
2. It fits my face.
3. It is becoming in any outfit.
4. It's unique and creative.
5. I feel comfortable when I wear it.

Those 5 reasons have become rules that I apply to any and everything I wear. They have helped me not only define my style, but create my signature style. Once you find any element of your style including hairstyles  and all of these rules apply then its definitely safe to say you've found your signature style!

Keep Sitting Pretty ladies!

What's your signature hairstyle? What other elements make up your signature style?

  4. I think that bun is addorable, but my hair is probably too unruly to stay that way. I wear mine natural and have since 2009. I used to be a religious straightener, but now I wear my curls and will until January I decided. I guess part of my "signature" look is the hair bow I always wear to either side of my fro...lol.

  5. I love the bun! And I'm still experimenting. I think I like mine pinned and curly, but I also like it as a bob blow out. Both make me feel pretty and I think they fit too. Cute post

  8. Your bun is so beautiful, Kelley! I love that it's big and inverted, because that's what makes it unique. I don't know if I have a signature hairstyle per se, but I do wear long flowing curls & high buns most of the time. When I want something dramatic, I'll go for a cropped, colored style.
