A Little Inspiration: Revel

Revel..and let the good times roll!

rev·el

[rev-uhl] verb, rev·eled, rev·el·ing orespecially British rev·elled, rev·el·ling, noun
verb (used without object)
1.
to take great pleasure or delight (usually followed by in ): torevel in luxury.

One of my favorite seasons is upon us...summer!  With each new season, whether that be within the year or in your actual life, comes changes. How do you react when you are faced with changes?  Do you run in fear? Shut down? Welcome them wearily? Or adapt and celebrate?

Recently Beyonce, one of my biggest inspirations as many of you know, returned to the stage for her concert Revel after facing a major change in her life just a few month ago - becoming a mother! From what I hear, her performance was amazing and it was like she never left the stage.  Crazy right?

This isn't the first major change Beyonce has experienced in her life. She's gone from being signed to be dropped from a record label, loosing group members, going solo, getting married and the list goes on. Through it all she has adapted to her changes and let them make her an even more phenomenal person.

Remember my question from earlier? How do you react when you are faced with changes? No matter what your answer was initially, it's never too late to practice the best response - adapt and celebrate!

Don't let the changes in your life stop you, let them motivate you! When changes happen revel in the fact that you are always victorious of them whether good or bad. Let every change you go through make you an even more phenomenal person than you already are!

So this summer and always, revel..and let the good times roll!

How do you react to changes in life? Are you willing to adapt and celebrate changes?

Keeping that in mind when I went shopping, I picked up some pieces for both events!  Surprisingly (I'm just noticing this), I ended up purchasing some of the trends from the season. Check them out!

Style Defined: Collar Necklace

Happy Tuesday Glams!  I'm such a girly girl when it comes to fashion which means I'm a sucker for accessories.  When the whole statement necklace trend came into play a few years ago, I can't say I was really feeling it. I love to see others wear statement necklaces, but I really didn't think it fit me.  Then it happened.  I saw a collar necklace. I feel like these have been around for sometime now, but for some reason they are just now standing out to me.  I mean, I feel like I'm becoming slightly obsessed with them which means I'll probably have one soon. Check out some of my favorites below!

Are you loving the collar necklace trend? What is your favorite accessory?

How To Gain More Blog Followers

Hello my glamorous bloggettes!  Recently I've gotten some more blogger questions via email. Like I promised here in my last post addressing how to increase blog interaction, I'm going to answer them here on the blog for anyone else who may have similar questions.  I mean, part of being a fashion blogger is being a blogger right? Exactly.  So this is another age old question every blogger asks in the beginning of his or her blogger career and what has proven to have worked for me.

How do I get more blog followers?

1. Be authentic and creative.

Being who you really are, is the most important thing you could ever do for yourself. Not just for blogging purposes, but for life purposes.  It is important to be yourself because you are your own "one of a kind" flavor.  You cannot be duplicated.  Use this to your advantage by getting comfortable in your own skin.  Share with your readers and the world who you truly are.

There is a sense of clarity that comes with authentically being yourself.  With clarity often comes creative inspiration.  Get clear on who you are and creativity has a way of flowing endlessly.

Creativity is key and content is king when it comes to catching the eye of new readers.  It is often the number one factor for someone when deciding to follow or not to follow a blog. Strive to make your blog and the content you offer a breath of fresh air to new readers so that they are more compelled to return regularly.

2. Become an expert.

If you're going to be a blogger, you need to know your stuff!  As a blogger it is your job to become an expert in whatever it is that your are passionate about and have chosen to center your blog around.  Make sure that you are an asset to your audience.  This requires research.

The biggest little known fact about being a blogger is that not only are you a blogger, but you are a full time researcher.  The experience that you bring into blogging, coupled with your new research, should make for a nice creative blog post cocktail.

Remember, you're the expert when it comes to your blog! Now act like one!

3. Get interactive.

Social Media is your friend. Get to know it and use it to your advantage! Joining sites like Twitter, Bloglovin, Facebook, and IFB to name a few, may just be the missing factor keeping you from being exposed to and gaining more followers.  These sites not only give you exposure, but they allow you to interact with other bloggers as well as your readers.

Sites like these also allow you to follow and build relationships with other bloggers so that you can keep up with your favorites. Just because you and your fellow/favorite bloggers don't live in the same city, state, country, or continent doest not mean you cannot interact.  Use these sites to keep up with posts on other blogs so that you can comment, share other blogger's links with your followers, and promote yourself along the way as well.

4. Stay focused.

When you first start your blog at first it may seem like you will never get any followers. Don't let this discourage you.  Stay focused on keeping your voice consistent and building your brand. This will allow you to establish a solid foundation and a loyal audience.

Don't worry about the other bloggers around you, you can't compare yourself to them.  Your blogging path is your own.  If you worry too much about other bloggers and how successful they are you may be swayed to do something that does not truly reflect you or your blog. Being unstable in what you believe in and what you blog about to gain success will lead you down a road to nowhere.

If you started blogging for the sole purpose of gaining followers, you are in it for the wrong reason.  Blogging like any other job requires passion and hard work to be successful.  Getting into it for superficial reasons will only bring superficial results.

5. Be patient.

The saying "if you build it, they will come," is somewhat true.  It's just that the "they will come" part usually varies drastically.

It usually takes years to "blow up" or "make it."  It's just that no one but the actual blogger behind the blog ever sees the hard work, blood, sweat, tears, break downs, and failures (yes it's that serious) that come along with becoming successful.

Your favorite bloggers weren't the big superstars that they are now right out of the gate.  It took them time to establish themselves.  They ran into roadblocks and frustrations just like you, so just be patient.  If you really want to be successful your time will come.

Tried & True: NYC New York Color - "Lexington Yellow" & "High Line Green"

Hey Glams! It's the middle of the week and there is nothing like a fun nail color to get you through the rest of it! As I continue on my fashion journey, I am finding that nail polish is not only a fun and fabulous beauty product, but it is also one glamorous of a fashion accessory!  Recently I purchased two new polishes by New York Color, "Lexington Yellow" and "High Line Green."  Check out my review of both below.

First up, NYC New York Color (In a New Your Color Minute Quick Dry) "Lexington Yellow"

The Pros:  The number one thing I love about this polish is that it dries so quickly (literally in one minute).  As I shared before I need that kind of polish in my life.  I also love the brush in this polish because it allows for a pretty even application.  Last, but not least, I LOVE the bright color.  This polish dries to a gloss finish and looks pastel/neon yellow.  I love it!

The Cons:  The only con I can really think of with this polish is that you have to apply two coats for it to come out like pictured above. One coat leaves the polish looking streaky.

The Verdict:  I love it and I say it's must buy. The best part is probably the price, it's only $2 dollars!

Next up, NYC New York Color (In a New Your Color Minute Quick Dry) "High Line Green"

The Pros:  The number one thing I love about this polish is the color! This is a fun green for summer and it's a nice switch from the usual shades of pink and red. Also, this polish really only takes one coat, even though I used to coats in the picture above. Like "Lexington Yellow" the brush in this polish allows for a pretty even application This polish dries in about 1 minute. This polish dries to a gloss finish and looks olive/spring green

The Cons:  I don't think there is one!

The Verdict:  Again and I say it's must buy. You can't beat the price or application!

Happy Shopping!

What do you think about these polishes? Were my reviews helpful?

Style Defined: Belt It Out

So it just hit me that I have no fun belts.  I mean none. No fun colors, nothing...nada.  I'm a sad panda! I am now on the search for some cute and colorful belts.  Specifically I want one in neon pink, neon yellow, mint, and tan.  Once I get those I'm pretty much up for any other kind of fun and unique belts out there.  A belt is a simple piece, that can make a world of difference in your outfit. A belt can literally make or break your outfit.  It divides proportions adding elements to an outfit that otherwise could go unnoticed.  Yeah, it's definitely time to start a belt collection. Here are a few I am loving...

Do you use belts as an accessory? Where do you find the best belts?
