Beauty on the Blog: Get Soft Skin for Spring 2013

I LOVE black soap. I think it's going to be my best kept (not so) secret for soft skin this Spring. I had never really heard of black soap until this year. I can't say I was rushing to try it. It was black and in my mind that's the opposite of clean. Finally I took the plunge, tried it, and loved it. It has made my skin softer and even more clear. Black soap doesn't leave your skin feeling dry after a shower and it smells good. It's super gentle on my skin, and the best part? It's natural!

Black soap originates from Africa. It is made using the bark and skins of plants including plantain, cocoa pods, shea tree bark, palm tree leaves combined with oils like coconut oil and even honey. Black soap is said to be used not only for the skin, but also as a shampoo for the hair. It is said to help clear blemishes and help with problem skin.

If you have sensitive skin and even if you don't, I would definitely recommend giving black soap a try. It's always good to mix your skin regimen up a little. If you're looking for an affordable way to treat your skin, black soap may just be the product you're looking for. Here's to soft, clear skin for 2013!

Want to try black soap? Buy it here online or at your local Whole Foods.

  1. I've tried it in the past because it was supposed to give you clear skin. I didn't use it long enough to know if it worked. I didn't like the residue from the color of the soap in my shower so I quit using it and began using unrefined Shea butter.
