Fashion and Life: Spring 2013 Trend - Black and White

I'm quite the fashion rebel when it comes to following the latest in fashion, but I am kind of crazy about the Spring 2013 black and white trend. They say that it's the simple things in life that make us happy, so I guess it makes sense. I really took notice of the black and white trend when Beyonce rocked it at the Grammys. Many felt she was underdressed, but I think she showed that sometimes less is more.  I'm a girl about color, but there's just something about the way black and white comes together with such elegance and poise. It's one of the more graceful color combinations, but the shapes, silhouettes, and patterns through which it can be combined makes it so much more fun and playful. Below I've created fun chic, edgy, and flirty black and white looks.

Flirty in Black and White

Flirt in Black & White

I find that skirts are the ultimate flirty girl fashion essential! If you want rock the black and white trend in a flirty way, try pairing a cute top (peplum, sheer, or ruffles will do) with a short skirt.  There is nothing more flirty than showing a little leg. To elongate your legs, pair your look with some structured high heels like the ones pictured above. This look is not overly sexy and gives you just the right amount of "flirt" to catch the attention of everyone in the room.

Edgy in Black and White

Nothing says edgy like a booty and a spike! For a more edgy look, I decided to pair a black blazer with angular sleeves with some white skinny jeans. A look like this will allow you to play up your accessories to go as edgy as you like. Don't be afraid to rock a bold red lip with this look as well.

Chic in Black and White

The word "chic" screams "it girl" to me, and there's no way you won't be the it girl wearing a jumpsuit like this. Jumpsuits are very simple, but lend themselves to being styled in so many ways. Here, I decided a wedge and blazer would add a bit of fun to this look. Add some fab accessories and a polish that pops and you're ready to go!

  3. There's something that's so clean and classy about black and white. The first thing that pops into my head when wanting to wear this trend is something with a crisp white blouse, a pop of lipstick color and a high bun. Yaaaaaas!
    Keep up the good work!

  5. I absolutely adore that last look. Classy yet casual. It can be worn so many different ways.

As far as have I been rocking with the trend, I guess. In the spring, I'm way more feminine so I've done more color pops lately. Black and white have always been my go to colors although I think I fear white as a main piece...I'm just so clumsy and sometimes I eat like a 5 year old. lol but who knows...I may feel inspired to rock it soon enough.

    Great looks!
